Jimmy attended Charleston High School and worked at Flag Stop for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Matthews Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston.
He had a great sense of humor and loved to cook, dance and just have a great time. He had an amazing memory and a nickname for every special person in his life.
Jimmy is survived by three daughters, Porsha Owens , Janis Owens, and Christal Ewing all of Charleston, seven brothers, Randy Cleaves of Cape Girardeau, Samuel Cleaves, Steve Cleaves, John Cleaves, and Timothy Cleaves of Columbus, Ohio, Jessie Cleaves of Louisville, Kentucky, and Phillip Cleaves of Queens, New York, three sisters, Delores Hall of Charleston, Larcene Robinson and Diana Cleaves of Cape Girardeau, longtime companion of 45 years, Ruby Owens, 8 grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM at St. Matthews Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Floyd Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
