Baron Jose Betts, affectionately known as "Uncle B," was born on December 10, 1968, in Charleston, Missouri. He was the son of Charles Betts and Verna Goodin Barr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Varonda Betts and Felicia Betts.
In his younger years, he relocated to California. After completing his eighth grade year at National City Middle School in San Diego, he continued his studies at home until receiving his diploma.
Baron held positions at Olive Garden and Phil's BBQ, starting his employment journey as a dishwasher. He dedicated 25 years of his life to the San Diego School District, where he worked diligently in the kitchen and served as a Senior Site Supervisor over the cafeteria.
Family meant everything to Baron, and he shared deep bonds with his nephews and nieces. He was especially present for his family during times of need, including supporting them through the passing of his mother, their grandmother. He took great joy in spending time with his nieces and nephews, enjoying trips to the beach and simply hanging out together. Baron had a good heart and was known as a good person who valued family above all else.
Baron’s personality shined brightly. This was evident at their recent family reunion where he made lasting memories with those he loved. When he wasn't with family, he was a homebody who enjoyed his own company. He enjoyed listening to reggae music, barbecuing, and watching his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in his spare time.
On Thursday, August 7, 2025 while visiting family in Charleston, Baron was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord. He was taken from our midst at the age of 56 years, seven months, and 28 days.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends who will forever remember him.
