David Timothy Sides was born to the late Jerry Ayers and Cora B. Sides on July 3, 1965 in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He graduated from Cape Central High School in 1984 where he excelled in sports Track & Field along with Basketball . He played Football during his 8th grade year at Cape Junior High School. David received the MVP award in 1984 for Track & Field. Friends gave him the nickname “Quick Feet”.

David worked as an Asst. Manager for Pizza Hut and Bonanza. He graduated from St. Louis Community College Flo Valley with a degree in Computer Science. After receiving his degree he began employment with BJC- Barnes Jewish Hospital. He was employed by BJC for over 25 years. David organized their Annual Golf Outing several times. David was an avid golfer and looked forward to a day on the greens with his close friends, known to the family as “The Brothers.” He was a former member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees.

March of 2025 proved to be a year like none other, after a near-fatal car accident, David fought his way home to family and Loved ones. He was a great example of how to walk with the Lord through difficult times for his healing was not an easy road to travel. He never complained just continued to take care of his Mom and his favorite Aunt, Melissa making sure they had everything they needed as they were right by his side during the most trying time of his Life.

David’s Love and compassion for family and friends will always be remembered. This was obvious in his Love for his Son and grandchildren. He was jovial and he never met a stranger.

He had a warm circle of friends who were with him down through the years, Clayton Hall, Anthony Rivers, Marcus Stewart, William Thompson, Troy Walker, Sam Ward (childhood friend from the age of 5 years old) and Jeff Wilson. This group of Black kings showed each other brotherly love and helped him through the hard times.

David’s precious memories will forever remain in the heart of his loving Mother, Cora B. Sides, along with his only child Caleb (Octavia) 4 grandchildren; Kyliah, Haylee, Caylee, and Xavier. Four brothers Jerry (June)Ayers, Robert, Randy and Brian. One sister, Robin Twiggs.
