Gene Arrington was born July 2, 1942 in Portageville, Missouri to the late Luvenia Tate Arrington and “Sonny” Wesley Arrington Sr. He was a graduate of Central High School in Hayti, Missouri. Gene departed this life on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Gene confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston, Missouri. During his time there, he served as Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Transportation Team. Until the end, he was a dedicated and faithful member who could be counted on to lend a hand wherever he could.
In 1969, Gene was joined in matrimony to Helen Hamilton and to this union was born three sons. He believed in providing for his family through hard work working as a carpenter and for Noranda Aluminum Plant until he retired. Gene often woke up in the mornings humming a tune as he got ready for work. He was known for replying, “Every day is a holiday”, when asked how he was doing.
Gene Arrington was preceded in death by his parents, Luvenia & Wesley Arrington and younger brother, Don Arrington. He leaves to cherish his memory a brother, Wesley ( Margie ) Arington Jr.; three sons, Carl Arrington, Mikkell Arrington, and Gabriel ( Tana ) Arrington; two daughters, Sandra Daniels and Suprena Johnson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other family members. His memory will also be celebrated by his Good Hope Church family and friends in the community. Gene’s sudden departure has left a tremendous void in our lives. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Friends may call Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Good Hope Baptist Church in Marston Missouri with Pastor Allysia Long officiating. Interment will follow in Mason Cemetery in Point Pleasant, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Homes of Howardville in charge of arrangements.
