Maggie Horton

November 14, 1957 — May 14, 2025

Maggie Horton, affectionately known as Doll, 67, resident of Charleston, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at her home. She was born November 14, 1957 in rural Charleston to the late Elbert Horton, Sr. and the late Mary Lee Riggin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Beverly Horton, Evelyn Horton, and Carolyn Horton-Lyons, her nieces, Michelle Horton and Amber Johnson, her great niece, R’Shaunti Parham, and her great great niece, Aiyanna Kizer.

She attended and graduated from Charleston High School. Maggie later went on to attend Job Corps in Columbia, Missouri. She was a hard worker throughout her life. She worked in factories, including Stark Manufacturing, as well as working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Charleston Manor Skilled Nursing Facility.

Maggie really loved life and was the life of the party, bringing so much energy wherever she went. An animal lover at heart, she was all about her cats and dogs, showering them with affection. Her taste in music leaned towards the blues, but she always knew how to hit the dance floor and have a good time.

Doll enjoyed playing around with wigs and makeup, always excited to get glammed up. Anything cute caught her eye, and she loved it all. Cooking was another thing she was passionate about, especially whipping up delicious soul food that everyone enjoyed.

She never held back when it came to speaking her mind. It’s no wonder she was loved by so many. Her fun and genuine personality made a lasting impact on everyone. She will be truly missed.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her sisters, Audrey (Norris) Johnson of Charleston, Missouri and Glenis Riggin of Memphis, Tennessee, her brothers, David Riggin of Charleston, Missouri, Elbert Horton, Jr. of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Charles Bankhead of Springfield, Illinois, and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great nieces, and many many friends.

Arrangements are forthcoming.
