Mary Ann Elizabeth Geralds Harrington was born February 9, 1949 in Sikeston, Missouri to Katie and Emory McCauley Sr. (Cleveland Turner, Sr.).
She attended and graduated from public schools in Sikeston. Mary also attended a trade college where she developed the skillset to go into education.
Mary had her own personal relationship with the Lord. She was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Sikeston. There, she took pride in serving in her role as a lay speaker.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to William Joe Harrington in 1983. They shared 11 years of love together until his passing on October 10, 1994.
Throughout her lifetime, Mary has held several positions. She worked as a machine operator at Hammond Organ as well as being employed at Triangle, where she made copper wire. She later took passion in helping others, working in in-home healthcare with the Sikeston Regional Center. Ultimately, her love for others landed with her assisting with and educating the children of Lincoln School in Sikeston. Mary retired after 50 years of continued service.
In addition to her work ethic, Mary had a passion for being active in her community. She was one of the original founders of Return to Sunset, and a dedicated member of Daughters of Sunset. Both are groups dedicated to bringing unity and culture to the Sikeston community. Mary was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
When Mary wasn’t out in her community, she could be found at a consignment store, flea market or garage sale finding new valuables and a good deal. She also spent time in her garden. Mary had a love for plants and a green thumb that could bring anything back to life if needed.
She found great joy in taking naps. When she awoke, she enjoyed her crossword and sudoku puzzles. The perfect finish would be a piece of catfish on the side, as it was her favorite. Mary found happiness in the simple things in life.
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026 while in her home in Sikeston, Mary retired from her earthly duties at the age of 77 years, seven months and 28 days.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by seven brothers, Sam Grayson, Clarence Grayson, Mose Grayson, Leroy McCauley, Richard McCauley, Joe McCauley and Cleveland Turner Jr., and one grandson, Donovan Geralds.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her sons, Mark Geralds and Steven (Carmi Isodoro) Geralds of St. Louis, Missouri, her daughter, Monique (Derrick) Reeves of Glenn Heights, Texas, two brothers, Emory (Ann) McCauley Jr. of Sikeston, Missouri and David McCauley of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, two sisters, Dorothy (Herman) Jefferson of Fairview Heights, Illinois and Mary Ann Blissett of Oran, Missouri, her sister-in-law, Jo Ann McCauley of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, her grandchildren, Michael Geralds of Sikeston, Missouri, Zakiayyah Geralds and Caylee Hecht of St. Louis, Missouri, Shanice Geralds of Memphis, Tennessee, Cameron Geralds of Arlington, Texas, and Kievyn Geralds and Jozieh Geralds of Jackson, Missouri, her great grandchildren, Paytience Geralds and Messiah Bledsoe both of Memphis, Tennessee and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
