Ollie "Jean" Starnes Robinson was born January 8, 1958 in Tunica, MS to the late Cleve Starnes and Ollie Mae Brown Starnes.
Jean accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized as a teenager under the leadership of Pastor Frank Jones at Travelers Rest M.B. Church. She then joined West End Missionary Baptist Church, and then, years later, was a founding member of New Deliverance Praise and Worship Center under the leadership of Ronald Williams, Sr. at both locations until his retirement. She continued her membership under her son and Bishop, Trevor D. Robinson, Sr.
On August 30, 1986, Jean was united in holy matrimony to Arthur James "AJ" Robinson. Jean gave birth to 3 children and gained 2 bonus children. Jean worked for Cargill, Inc. for 40+ years until retirement.
Jean ran the race that was set before her, finished her course, and received the ultimate validation of “Well done my good and faithful servant” at home in the arms of her husband, AJ; by her side were daughters, Erica and Monica; son, Trevor; and granddaughters. Olivia and Kassydi. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Cornelius Lewis, John Henry Lewis, Henry Lee Lewis, Willie Lee Herron, Randle Lewis. Jr., Arthur Starnes, Willie C. Starnes, Jessie James Starnes, Tunie Starnes, Jr., Lester Starnes, Evalene Lewis, Annie Mae Johnson, Mable Anderson, and Queen Ester Starnes, and her bonus daughter, Takela Wimberly.
Jean leaves many to cherish her memories her husband of 38 years; children: Erica (Leecole) Starnes Mathews of Montgomery, AL, Monica (Edrick) Starnes Blakemore of Murfreesboro, TN, Trevor (Monique) Robinson of Sikeston, MO; bonus daughter: Takesha Ford of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters: Gloria (Robert) Ellis of Sikeston, MO and Viola Ward of Chicago, IL; one brother: James (Robbin) Herron of Springfield, MO; eleven grandchildren: Nathan Baker, Destiny Starnes, Olivia Starnes, Gabrielle Mathews, Hillary Mathews, Hailey Mathews, Kassydi Starnes, Kassius Belford-Robinson, Trevor Robinson Jr., Trenton Robinson, and Lauren Robinson; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may call Monday, May 26, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston with Bishop T.D. Robinson, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery with the Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
