Richard Williams, affectionately known as “Worldwide,” was born on July 15, 1953, in New Madrid, Missouri, to Renet Williams and Richard Giles.
Richard “Worldwide” was raised in New Madrid, Missouri, where he built lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. He attended New Madrid Elementary School and graduated from New Madrid High School in 1972. He later furthered his education by completing some college coursework.
Richard began his professional career with Noranda Aluminum, Inc., where he worked faithfully for many years as a dedicated and committed employee.
At an early age, Richard accepted Christ and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in New Madrid, Missouri.
In 1975, Richard married his longtime girlfriend, Victoria Rasper. From this union, two daughters were born: Angelina and Michelle.
Richard “Worldwide” lived life unapologetically, boldly, and on his own terms. He was the heart of family gatherings, the life of the party, and a familiar face at BBQs, often found dancing, laughing, playing basketball, and creating moments filled with joy. His personality was larger than life, and he was truly loved by many.
Throughout his life, Richard was blessed with six children whom he loved deeply and cherished dearly: Angelina, Michelle, Tasha, Latoria, Marrika, and Jeremy. His children and family remained an important part of his life and legacy.
Richard “Worldwide” was known for his unforgettable catchphrases and words of endearment: “Lodi Dodi,” “Ooohhwweee,” and “Man Down, Shots Fired!” Each one carrying its own meaning, humor, and signature “Worldwide” flair that family and friends will forever remember.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Renet Williams and Richard Giles; his maternal and paternal grandparents; two sisters, Dorothy “Mae Mae” Ross and Shearlene “Whimpy” Williams; and two brothers, Charles Williams and Theodis “Ted” Maltibia.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Angelina Rasper of Chicago, Illinois; Michelle Rasper of Chicago, Illinois; Tasha (Cornelius) Fields of Memphis, Tennessee; Latoria Green of St. Louis, Missouri; Marrika (Eric) Carter of Kansas City, Kansas; and Jeremy Williams of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He is also survived by his beloved sister, Jeanette (Harry) Proctor of Peoria, Illinois; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him tremendously.
Richard “Worldwide” Williams leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, unforgettable sayings, and a spirit that could never be duplicated. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mill Street Community Building located at 1199 Mill Street in New Madrid.
